Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess a PhD in Physics or a related discipline with
academic and professional experience in the field, including:
· B.Sc. in Physics and PhD in Physics
· Experience in teaching and research at an institution of higher learning
· Demonstrated scholarly activity (peer-reviewed publications/presentations, etc.).
Responsibilities
Teaching
· Enact curriculum, develop course materials and assign research projects for both undergraduate and graduate courses;
· Grade and assess student learning outcomes;
· Perform academic advising;
· Deliver training as and when required;
· Evaluate the effectiveness of programmes and make recommendations for improvements;
· Coordinate and lead academic programmes;
· Supervise/Guide Master's and Doctoral level dissertations.
Research
· Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge and publish findings in peer-reviewed international journals;
· Stay current in related discipline through involvement in professional organizations, workshops, etc.;
· Secure research grant funding;
· Develop and maintain a research agenda around national and regional needs;
· Foster a culture of techno-entrepreneurship.
Service
· Participate in various committees at the UWI as well as provide service to the wider community through workshops, seminars, public lectures and consulting services to government and industry;
· Serve as a departmental representative to the UWI and to the national community.
