Emory University’s Oxford College seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in Physics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2016 (Emory requisition # 55961BR). A Ph.D. in a physics-related discipline is required. Candidates who have experience with engaging students in investigative laboratory exercises and high impact pedagogies are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be committed to outstanding teaching and continuing scholarly activity; familiarity with liberal arts colleges is desirable. The successful candidate will teach first and second-year students in lecture-with-laboratory courses for majors and non-majors.
A new, state-of-the-art science facility designed to promote student-faculty collaboration, scholarship, and innovative teaching in STEM will open in January, 2016. The physics faculty will work on a vision for the future of the physics program that embodies the National Research Council recommendations for undergraduate physics education.
