Florida Southern College invites applications for a full time tenure-track physics position beginning in August 2012. The successful candidate will be required to teach first year physics (lectures and laboratories) for science and non-science majors, courses that meet the physics minor requirements, and astronomy when necessary. Qualified candidates may be ABD with dissertation in hand but must have completed a Ph.D. degree in Physics. FSC is a small college where every faculty member is an exceptional teacher. Consequently, FSC is searching for individuals who motivate students to take an active role in their own learning and are skilled in the use of modern methods of instructional technology. In addition, FSC faculty members view excellent advising as critical to assisting students in interpreting the significance of their educational experiences, rather than merely advising students on course selection.
