RESPONSIBILITIES:
The faculty member is primarily responsible for teaching a variety of developmental mathematics courses through Algebra II. However, the faculty member will also be required to teach mathematics credit courses at the 100 and 200 levels as needed, including, but not limited to, College Algebra, Contemporary Mathematics, Trigonometry, and Calculus I and II. The faculty member will also assist in developing divisional syllabi, divisional tests and quizzes, as well as divisional assessment projects related to program goals.
In addition, faculty members are expected to stay current in their disciplines and in teaching methodologies; implement changes in instruction based on assessment results; maintain reasonable, distributed office hours; develop and revise curriculum; mentor adjunct faculty; participate in a variety of college committees and task forces; and advise students as appropriate. Faculty members are also expected to demonstrate leadership skills in teaching, discipline activities and college service, as well as participate in community service.
This 10-month, tenure-track position is scheduled to begin August 2013.
REQUIREMENTS:
A master's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a closely related math field such as physics, statistics, or mechanical engineering is required. Applicants must have two years of full-time teaching experience, effective communication skills, and experience using instructional technology. Applicants must be able to demonstrate ability in curriculum development, and development and execution of assessment projects related to learning. Teaching at the community college level and experience teaching developmental math students are highly desirable.
Candidates will be asked to validate full-time or part-time teaching experience.
