VAP Astro/Physics at Sonoma State

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Sonoma State University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant faculty position beginning in mid-August 2013. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics or a closely-related field, a demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and be actively involved in research in astronomy, physics or a related field.  In particular, we are interested in individuals who are capable of teaching a wide variety of courses, including descriptive astronomy and upper division general education astronomy courses as well as lower division physics courses and laboratories. Proven teaching excellence is required. Ability to run the SSU Observatory, host Public Observing Nights, and do research with undergraduates is desirable.
