Sauk Valley Community College invites applications from
innovative individuals for a Physics/Math/Science faculty opening. This
is a tenure track, nine-month position that is available fall semester
2013. Salary is based on education and experience and may be augmented
by summer teaching and overload opportunities. The College offers a
liberal fringe benefits package and does not deduct FICA from paychecks.
Responsibilities:
The Physics/Math/Science faculty member will teach courses on campus, off campus, video conferencing, and on the internet. This position will also provide administrative support, program development, and develop courses for the programs as well as provide support for students. The faculty position assumes the role of faculty advisor to the associated clubs and will assist with developing cooperative programs with area schools and two-plus-two programs with universities.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess a Master's degree in Physics, Math, Biology, Chemistry or a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 15 graduate hours in the field of Physics. The successful candidate will have an interest and ability in improving existing physics curriculum and student retention through the development of innovative teaching methods, active learning experiences for students, and creative use of current technology.
Preference will be given to individuals who have high school and community college teaching experience, demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy, have experience with assessment of student learning outcomes, and have familiarity or experience with internet instruction.
