2 TT and one non-TT at Tufts

Tufts University is searching for three positions this fall:

One for a Lecturer/Director position in STEM Elementary Education, and two for Assistant Professors in Mathematics Education and Engineering Education. The third is actually in the School of Engineering, and it's due date is sooner — Nov 1. The other two are in Arts & Sciences, with apps due Jan 20.

Education: Mathematics Education
Assistant Professor
Tufts University Department of Education invites applications for a full time tenure-track position in the area of Mathematics Education at the Assistant Professor level. Teaching experience at the higher education level strongly preferred; teaching experience at the PreK-12 level desirable. Doctoral degree in hand at the time of the appointment required.

Responsibilities include developing research in Mathematics Education; successful grant writing; participation in the Department's projects, teaching, and advising; and supervision of students in the Department's Master of Arts in Teaching and in the interdisciplinary M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Mathematics, Science, Technology and Engineering (MSTE) Education.

The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty from the Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering Departments towards the development of our MSTE Education program and will have the opportunity to participate in the Noyce Fellowship Program and the Poincaré Institute for Mathematics Education, a current NSF sponsored project. In addition, the department encourages joint research with the faculties and research staffs of neighboring universities and educational research organizations. Candidates will no doubt appreciate the fact that the Tufts University Medford campus location allows for immersion in the lively and rich intellectual and cultural life of the Boston area.

Preferable qualities of a successful candidate are:

* A solid background in Mathematics;
* A strong record in Mathematics Education research;
* Expertise in recent developments in effective Mathematics Education;
* A deep understanding of the psychological and socio-cultural issues involved in learning and teaching in diverse environments;
* A commitment to the goal of effectively contributing to teacher development and to the improvement of Pre-K to 12 Mathematics Education.
