The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Department of Physics invite applications for an anticipated tenure-track faculty position in experimental nuclear/particle physics. With the ongoing development of the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) in Lead, South Dakota, our department is expanding into research areas related to neutrino physics, neutrinoless double beta decay, direct detection of dark matter, nuclear astrophysics, proton decay, and related experiments requiring deep underground shielding and low-background counting. We primarily seek candidates at the Assistant Professor level, but exceptional candidates at a more senior level will be considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear/particle physics or related field. The successful candidate will be expected to build strong externally funded research programs, supervise graduate students, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. The anticipated start date for this position is August 22, 2011.
