TT at American University

The Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position: Assistant Professor of Physics. Preference will be given to an experimental physicist with the ability to form research partnerships with science institutions in the Washington, DC area. Responsibilities include: teaching courses across the physics curriculum from General Education courses to upper-level major electives; establishing an externally-funded research program that can involve undergraduate research participation; and service to the department and University. The Department of Physics offers a BS in physics with tracks in traditional, chemical, and computational physics as well as minors in physics and applied physics. The committee will begin reviewing applications on January 21, 2011, and will continue until the position is filled.
