The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in computational materials science with preference for those with research interests that overlap and complement current research at Syracuse - see http://physics.syr.edu/research.htm.

We are looking for a dynamic researcher interested in establishing collaborations with faculty across various departments of science and engineering. The successful candidate will join a strong existing group in soft condensed matter theory and statistical physics and several active experimentalists in areas ranging from cellular biophysics to NEMS and quantum computing. Computational research at Syracuse includes gravitational wave astronomy, high energy physics, and condensed matter physics. These groups operate several large scale computational clusters. Synergistic research activities also exist in the departments of biomedical and chemical engineering and in chemistry. The University has recently made a substantial investment in the area of soft materials science and engineering with the creation of the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute (http://biomaterials.syr.edu/) and several new appointments in science and engineering departments.

A Ph.D. in physics or a related field is required. Two-years of post-doctoral research and college-level teaching experience are desirable. All applicants should have a substantial record of research accomplishments and a strong interest and ability to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate level. To apply, please complete the online application through the website http://www.sujobopps.com; search for position #026808. The website has additional instructions for applicants.

Syracuse University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer. Members of minority groups and women are especially encouraged to apply.
