Candidates specializing in the broadly defined areas of biological physics, health physics, environmental physics, or energy are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates who are members of Phi Beta Kappa are also encouraged to apply.

A Ph.D. is required, some prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred, and plans for an active research program capable of involving undergraduate students is mandatory. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to creative teaching of both introductory and advanced undergraduate physics courses, as well as courses for non-science majors. A commitment to the liberal arts and excellent communication skills are essential.

The Department has a strong commitment to research involving undergraduate students and the successful candidate will be expected to include undergraduate students in their research. Startup funds will be available.

To apply, applicants must use the College's on-line system at https://www.rollinsjobs.com. Candidates will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire and upload their application documents. Applicant materials must include letter of application, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and a summary of research plans involving undergraduates. Questions may be addressed to Dr. Thomas Moore, Chair, Department of Physics, at tmoore@rollins.edu. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2010, and continue until the position is filled.

Through its mission, Rollins College is committed to creating a fully inclusive, just community that embraces multiculturalism; persons of color and other historically under-represented groups are therefore encouraged to apply. The College's equal opportunity policy is inclusive of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and Rollins offers domestic partner benefits.
