Northeastern State University invites applications for a 9-month tenure track faculty position in Physics. Northeastern State University is a public university with its main campus located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the foot of the Ozark Mountains. The university also has two other campuses in Muskogee and Broken Arrow.
While this position will be based at the Tahlequah campus, teaching responsibilities may extend to other campuses as needed. Some evening classes are possible.
The successful candidate will teach courses in physical science for non-majors and introductory physics. The faculty member will advise students, pursue scholarly activities which may include active research, and perform service duties typically associated with college teaching towards the goals of the physics program and the Department of Natural Science. Faculty members should anticipate teaching online and/or blended courses as part of their regular teaching responsibilities.

Starting Date: August 2011
Earned doctorate required; ABD considered. (Terminal degree required for tenure.) Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in biological physics or soft condensed matter physics, but highly qualified applicants in other fields of physics are welcome to apply as well. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to teach at an undergraduate institution and involve students in research and would also contribute to the establishment of a major.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; modest start-up funds may be available for qualified applicants.
