Lecturer at U.C. Merced

The University of California, Merced is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century. The School of Natural Sciences at the University of California, Merced, invites applications from exceptional scholars and teachers for the position of Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment (LPSOE) in Physics, starting July 1, 2011. The LPSOE is a permanent, full-time instructional position. The successful applicant must demonstrate a strong dedication to undergraduate Physics education, including teaching excellence in the classroom and an interest in broader programmatic objectives including course development, recruitment, retention, and assessment. Candidates should also demonstrate potential to successfully secure external funding to support innovative educational initiatives. Candidates with an interest in pursuing peer-reviewed Physics education research are highly encouraged to apply. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Physics or a related filed and significant university teaching experience.
